We take science seriously, and so do our products. That's why we are one of the few weight management brands that can come with health claims!
As context, health claims are very tough to gain on an ingredient in todays world, and they are not obtainable unless there is some serious scientific support (and normally 1000's of studies in support). The rules governing authorisation of health claims made on foods in the EU are covered by Regulation (EC) 1924/2006. According to the Regulation, health claims can be authorised for use in the EU only after a scientific assessment has been carried out by EFSA.
For the GoFigure range, when looking to lose weight, it's important to get 9g of SlimBiome per day (see our product pages to learn how much is in each product). This is achieved by following the GoFigure 2-2-go plan, meaning you can trust in the science of 1000's of studies that support the following statements:
Health Claim: "Glucomannan contributes to the reduction of body weight in the context of an energy restricted diet." (Commission Regulation (EU) 432/2012)
What this means: GoFigure can proudly say that they are scientifically supported for weight loss, and that's not just some marketing ploy. You may ask when on a restricted calorie diet, an individual is going to lose weight anyway, right? Well, yes, however, some of the biggest challenges with reduced calorie diets is the stomach constantly grumbles. We day dream about food. We plan our next meal, 5 seconds after the last bite of our previous meal. This is hardly a pleasant experience and is a main cause for why someone would give up such a diet. What this claim means, is that even though you're on a reduced calorie diet, you can do so without the hunger pangs, achieved by promoting the feeling of fullness (even after a 200 calorie meal). When you're feeling less hungry, you also require less willpower to push back the cravings, making it a win-win.
Health Claim: "Chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels" (Commission Regulation (EU) 432/2012)
What this means: You may notice that when you eat certain foods, you get a small energy burst, followed by a lack of energy. This comes down to your blood sugar levels spiking, providing a burst of energy, then dropping off just as quickly. Almost like a sugar slump. Our products provide the consistent energy you need, but without the drop.
Health Claim: "Contribution to normal macronutrient metabolism"
What this means: Although we normally eat three times a day, our bodies need a constant source of energy to perform all the functions (both conscious and unconscious) our organs and tissues need to keep our bodies healthy. Food is therefore stored in the body in the similar way to filling up your tank in your car from which your body can take energy constantly throughout the day. SlimBiome can contribute to a healthy balance within the body and regulate the rate at which your body can use up or store the energy source which also helps with weight management.
Interesting Fact:
Independent human studies by leading UK Universities have shown volunteers taking SlimBiome® had increased feelings of fullness and less of a desire to eat when compared to volunteers taking a control. Not only did they eat less but they reduced the amount of sugary and fatty foods preferring more healthier options.
